O senador e pré-candidato ao Planalto Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) protocolou, nesta segunda-feira (2), uma Proposta de Emenda à Constituição (PEC) que prevê o fim da reeleição para presidente da República. A iniciativa alcançou o número mínimo necessário de assinaturas no Senado, reunindo o apoio de 30 parlamentares para começar a tramitar oficialmente.
A proposta altera o artigo 14 da Constituição Federal e estabelece que o chefe do Executivo federal se torne inelegível para o mesmo cargo no mandato imediatamente seguinte. Na prática, caso seja aprovada, a medida impedirá que um presidente dispute a reeleição consecutiva, retomando o modelo de mandato único.
Segundo o texto da PEC, a mudança busca restaurar o princípio da alternância de poder no Executivo e promover mais equilíbrio e isonomia no processo eleitoral. A justificativa argumenta que o fim da reeleição pode reduzir o uso estratégico da máquina pública e fortalecer a independência das decisões presidenciais.
Para Flávio Bolsonaro, a proposta representa um “movimento de volta à normalidade democrática”, ao reafirmar o compromisso republicano com a limitação temporal do poder político. Agora, a PEC seguirá para análise nas comissões do Senado antes de eventual votação em plenário.
